Biography
Yasuyoshi Tokuma was a Japanese film producer and businessman. He served as president of Tokuma Shoten and, from 1974 to 2000, of Daiei Film. He was a founding supporter of Studio Ghibli and a close associate of Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki.
Tokuma produced or served as executive producer on numerous Studio Ghibli features, including Porco Rosso (1992, producer), Only Yesterday (1991, producer), Princess Mononoke (1997, executive producer) and Spirited Away (2001, executive producer). He died on 20 September 2000 in Tokyo.
