Biography
Adrienne Fazan was an American film editor. Born in Germany on 9 May 1906, she became a naturalised US citizen in 1923 and began working as a film editor in Los Angeles by 1930. She started cutting films in 1933 and spent much of her career at MGM.
Fazan edited numerous MGM productions, including Anchors Aweigh (1945), An American in Paris (1951), Singin' in the Rain (1952), Lust for Life (1956) and Gigi (1958). She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for An American in Paris and won the award for Gigi. She collaborated on eleven films with director Vincente Minnelli. Early in her career she received support from Dorothy Arzner, who promoted her from short films to features.
Fazan retired in 1970 after editing The Cheyenne Social Club. She died in Los Angeles on 23 August 1986.
