Biography
Leslie Claire Margaret Caron is a French-American actress and dancer. Born on 1 July 1931 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, she began her career as a ballerina with the Ballets des Champs-Élysées before making her film debut as Lise Bouvier in the musical An American in Paris (1951).
She is known for roles including Gigi in Gigi (1958), Catherine Freneau in Father Goose (1964), Elizabeth Prideaux in Damage (1992), Mrs Audel in Chocolat (2000) and Suzanne de Persand in Le Divorce (2003). Caron has received a Golden Globe Award, two BAFTA Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award, and was nominated for two Academy Awards.
