Biography
Juliette Binoche is a French actress. Born on 9 March 1964 in Paris, she trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique and made her film debut in the early 1980s. She gained attention in France with roles in Jean-Luc Godard's Hail Mary (1985) and André Téchiné's Rendez-vous (1985).
Her international breakthrough came with The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988). She is known for her performances in Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colours: Blue (1993), for which she won the César Award for Best Actress and the Volpi Cup, Anthony Minghella's The English Patient (1996), for which she received the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress, and Lasse Hallström's Chocolat (2000). Binoche has also appeared in Godzilla (2014), Ghost in the Shell (2017) and The Taste of Things (2023). She won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for Certified Copy (2010).
