Biography
Lena Olin is a Swedish actress. Born on 22 March 1955 in Stockholm, she is the daughter of actors Britta Holmberg and Stig Olin. She trained at the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting and joined the Royal Dramatic Theatre after graduating.
Mentored by Ingmar Bergman, Olin made her screen debut in his Face to Face (1976) and appeared in his Fanny and Alexander (1982) and After the Rehearsal (1984). Her international breakthrough came as Sabina in The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988). She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Enemies, A Love Story (1989) and a BAFTA nomination for Chocolat (2000).
On television, Olin played Irina Derevko in Alias (2002–2006), earning a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Her later film roles include The Reader (2008) and One Life (2023), in which she played Grete Winton. She has been married to director Lasse Hallström since 1994.
