Biography
Alec Mills (10 May 1932 – 12 February 2024) was a British cinematographer. Born in London, he began working in film studios as a teenager and progressed through roles including clapper loader and focus puller before becoming a camera operator in the 1960s.
He operated the camera on five James Bond films between 1969 and 1983, as well as on Return of the Jedi (1983), Death on the Nile (1978) and Macbeth (1971). Mills served as director of photography on The Living Daylights (1987), Licence to Kill (1989), Shaka Zulu (1986) and King Kong Lives (1986). He was a founding chairman of the Guild of British Camera Technicians and later taught at the National Film and Television School.
