Biography
Richard Maibaum (1909–1991) was an American screenwriter, producer and playwright. He wrote or co-wrote the screenplays for thirteen Eon Productions James Bond films between 1962 and 1989, beginning with Dr. No and ending with Licence to Kill. His other Bond credits include From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Octopussy, For Your Eyes Only, A View to a Kill and The Living Daylights.
Born in New York City, Maibaum attended New York University and the University of Iowa. He began as a Broadway actor and playwright in the early 1930s before moving to Hollywood, where he worked as a screenwriter from the late 1930s. After service in the US Army's Combat Film Division during the Second World War, he joined Paramount as a writer and producer. In the 1950s he collaborated with producers Albert R. Broccoli and Irving Allen on several films before returning to the Bond series.
