Biography
Andrew Tiernan is a British actor and director. Born Andrew James Tiernan on 30 November 1965 in Ladywood, Birmingham, he trained at the Drama Centre London after beginning acting with the Birmingham Youth Theatre and working at the Midlands Arts Centre.
Tiernan first gained attention for his role as Piers Gaveston in Derek Jarman's Edward II (1991) and as DC Rosper in the television series Prime Suspect (1991). He appeared as Sean in the series Cracker (1993). His film roles include Szalas in The Pianist (2002) and Ephialtes in 300 (2007) and 300: Rise of an Empire (2014). He has also directed feature films including Dragonfly (2015).
