Biography

David Wenham is an Australian actor who has worked in film, television and theatre. He was born on 21 September 1965 in Marrickville, Sydney, and trained at Theatre Nepean (now part of Western Sydney University), graduating with a BA in Performing Arts in 1987.

He is known for playing Faramir in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). Other film roles include Dilios in 300 (2006) and its sequel, Friar Carl in Van Helsing (2004), and parts in Moulin Rouge! (2001), Lion (2016), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) and Elvis (2022). In Australia he has appeared in the series SeaChange and the film Gettin' Square (2003).
