Biography
Brian Tufano was an English cinematographer. He began his career at the BBC as a projectionist in the late 1950s, becoming a cameraman in the film department in 1963. He went freelance in the mid-1970s.
His feature credits include Quadrophenia (1979), Shallow Grave (1994), Trainspotting (1996), A Life Less Ordinary (1997), East Is East (1999) and Billy Elliot (2000). He collaborated repeatedly with directors Danny Boyle and Menhaj Huda. Tufano received the BAFTA Award for Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television in 2001 and served as head of cinematography at the National Film and Television School from 2003 to 2016.
