Biography
Craig Armstrong is a Scottish composer of film scores, orchestral music and electronica. Born in Glasgow in 1959, he studied composition, piano and violin at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating in 1981. He has written for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta.
Armstrong is known for his scores for Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet (1996), for which he received a BAFTA and an Ivor Novello award, Moulin Rouge! (2001) and The Great Gatsby (2013). Other credits include Love Actually (2003), The Incredible Hulk (2008), In Time (2011), Me Before You (2016) and Snowden (2016). He won a Golden Globe for Moulin Rouge!, a Grammy for Ray (2004) and was appointed OBE.
