Biography
David Hayman is a Scottish actor and director. Born in Bridgeton, Glasgow, on 9 February 1948, he trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and began his career at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, playing roles including Hamlet.
He gained national prominence as Jimmy Boyle in the 1981 television film A Sense of Freedom. His film credits include Sid and Nancy (1986), Hope and Glory (1987) as Clive, Rob Roy (1995), The Jackal (1997), Vertical Limit (2000), The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008), Macbeth (2015) and Blinded by the Light (2019). On television he is known for playing Chief Supt. Michael Walker in Trial & Retribution (1997–2009), Jonas Franks in The Paradise (2012), Brace in Taboo (2017) and a chieftain in Andor (2022).
Hayman has also directed films including Silent Scream (1990).
