Biography
Dion Beebe is an Australian–South African cinematographer. Born on 18 May 1968 in Brisbane, Queensland, he moved with his family to Cape Town, South Africa, in 1972. He studied cinematography at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School from 1987 to 1989.
Beebe is known for his frequent collaborations with director Rob Marshall, serving as director of photography on Chicago (2002), Memoirs of a Geisha (2005), Into the Woods (2014), Mary Poppins Returns (2018) and The Little Mermaid (2023). He won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Memoirs of a Geisha and shared a BAFTA Award for Collateral (2004). Other credits include Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Gemini Man (2019) and Michael (2026).
Beebe is a member of the Australian Cinematographers Society and the American Society of Cinematographers. He was inducted into the ACS Hall of Fame in 2020.
