Biography
George Tyne, also credited as Martin Yarus and Buddy Yarus, was an American actor and television director. Born Martin Yarus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he began his career as an actor in the 1940s, appearing in films such as A Walk in the Sun (1945) and Sands of Iwo Jima (1949), and on Broadway. He was blacklisted in 1951 after refusing to answer questions before a House Un-American Activities Committee subcommittee.
From the mid-1960s he worked as a television director, credited on episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970), The Odd Couple (1970), MASH (1972), The Bob Newhart Show (1972), Sanford and Son (1972), The Brady Bunch (1969) and The Love Boat* (1977). He died in Los Angeles, California, in 2008.
