Biography
Helen Shaver is a Canadian actress and television director. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, she trained at the Banff School of Fine Arts and studied acting at the University of Victoria. She began her career as an actress in the 1970s, appearing in Canadian films and later in Hollywood productions.
Shaver moved into directing in the mid-1990s. She has directed episodes of numerous series, including Person of Interest (2011), Westworld (2016) and Station Eleven (2021). Other credits include Vikings, Orphan Black, 13 Reasons Why and Snowpiercer. Her television film Summer’s End (1999) received multiple Emmy awards. She has won three Directors Guild of Canada Awards and a Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing.
