Biography
Jeannine Claudia Oppewall (born 28 November 1946) is an American production designer and art director. She was born in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and holds a BA from Calvin College and an MA in literature from Bryn Mawr College. After eight years working at the office of Charles and Ray Eames, she entered film as a set designer in the early 1980s on titles including Blow Out (1981) before becoming a production designer with Tender Mercies (1983).
Her credits include The Bridges of Madison County (1995), L.A. Confidential (1997), Pleasantville (1998), Catch Me If You Can (2002), Seabiscuit (2003) and The Good Shepherd (2006). She has received four Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction and won an Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Award for Catch Me If You Can, along with a Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Pleasantville. Oppewall has served on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
