Biography
Jeremy Jack Thomas (26 July 1949 – 11 September 2026) was a British film producer. He founded Recorded Picture Company in 1974 and served as its chairman. He produced Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor (1987), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Thomas began his career as an assistant editor before producing his first feature, Mad Dog Morgan (1976). He went on to produce films including David Cronenberg's Naked Lunch (1991) and Crash (1996), as well as works by Nicolas Roeg, Nagisa Ōshima and Jonathan Glazer. He received the European Film Award for Outstanding European Achievement in World Cinema in 2006 and the BAFTA Michael Balcon Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema.
His father was director Ralph Thomas and his uncle was director Gerald Thomas. Thomas chaired the British Film Institute from 1992 to 1997.
