Biography
John Getz is an American actor. Born in Davenport, Iowa, on 15 October 1946, he attended the University of Iowa before training at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He helped found the Napa Valley Theater Company while working in California and made his television debut in the 1974 film Killer Bees. He later moved to New York, where he appeared in local theatre and had an 18-month role as Neil Johnson on the soap opera Another World.
Getz is known for his film roles as Ray in the Coen brothers' Blood Simple (1984), Stathis Borans in The Fly (1986) and The Fly II (1989), and Sy in The Social Network (2010). He has also appeared in Zodiac (2007) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989), and has guest-starred in numerous television series including How I Met Your Mother, Prison Break and Grey's Anatomy. He is married to playwright Grace McKeaney.
