Biography
John Gilroy is an American film editor. Born on 24 June 1959 in Santa Monica, California, he is the son of filmmaker Frank D. Gilroy and sculptor and writer Ruth Dorothy Gaydos. He is the twin brother of screenwriter-director Dan Gilroy and the brother of screenwriter-director Tony Gilroy.
Gilroy began his career as an assistant editor in the 1980s before editing his first feature, The Luckiest Man in the World (1989), written and directed by his father. He has since edited numerous films, including Michael Clayton (2007), The Bourne Legacy (2012), Warrior (2011), Pacific Rim (2013), Nightcrawler (2014), Suicide Squad (2016) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). He edited eight episodes of the television series Andor (2022) and served as co-producer and later executive producer on the show.
