Biography
John Grillo is a cinematographer and director. He began his career in the camera department, working as a first assistant camera, camera operator and second unit director of photography on features including Collateral (2004), Bad Boys II (2003) and Public Enemies (2009). He collaborated extensively with director Michael Mann between 2000 and 2020.
Grillo became a full-time cinematographer in 2010. His television credits include The Leftovers (2014), Westworld (2016), for which he shot eight episodes across seasons two and three and received an Emmy nomination, Preacher, Snowpiercer (2020), Perry Mason (2020) and Tokyo Vice (2022). He has directed three episodes of Preacher and is a member of the Directors Guild of America.
Grillo was elected to membership of the American Society of Cinematographers in 2024. He has received ASC and Emmy nominations for his work.
