Biography
John Ottman is an American film composer, editor and director. He is best known for his long collaboration with director Bryan Singer, for whom he has composed scores and edited films including The Usual Suspects (1995), X2 (2003), Superman Returns (2006), Valkyrie (2008), Jack the Giant Slayer (2013), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) and X-Men: Apocalypse (2016).
Ottman was born on 6 July 1964 in San Diego, California, and graduated from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts in 1988. He has also composed for other directors on films such as The Nice Guys (2016), Fantastic Four (2005) and its sequel, and Non-Stop (2014). In 2018 he won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for Bohemian Rhapsody. He edited Michael (2026) and directed, edited and scored Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000).
