Biography
Jon Landau was an American film producer. Born in New York City on 23 July 1960, he studied at the University of Southern California and began his career in production management. He later served as executive vice president of feature film production at Twentieth Century Fox before joining James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment as chief operating officer.
Landau produced Solaris (2002) alongside Cameron and Rae Sanchini. His long collaboration with Cameron included Titanic (1997), for which he shared the Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as Avatar (2009), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025). The last of these was released posthumously and dedicated to his memory. He also produced Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), Dick Tracy (1990) and Alita: Battle Angel (2019).
Landau died in Los Angeles on 5 July 2024.
