Biography
Sam Worthington is an actor. Born Samuel Henry John Worthington on 2 August 1976 in Godalming, Surrey, England, he moved with his family to Perth, Western Australia, at six months old. He trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney.
Worthington first gained recognition in Australian cinema for roles in Bootmen (2000) and Somersault (2004), the latter earning him an AFI Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He achieved international prominence as Jake Sully in James Cameron's Avatar (2009) and its sequels, including Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025). Other credits include Terminator Salvation (2009), Clash of the Titans (2010), Everest (2015), Hacksaw Ridge (2016) and Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 (2024), in which he played Trent Gephart.
