Biography
Keizō Murase (1935–2024) was a Japanese suitmaker, sculptor and modeller who worked on numerous tokusatsu films, primarily for Toho. He contributed to the creation of monster suits and effects for kaiju productions, including costume design on Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) and Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964).
Murase began working at Toho in 1958, initially on Varan the Unbelievable. He later collaborated on other Showa-era Godzilla films and Gamera productions for Daiei. In the 1970s he co-founded modelling companies Ex Productions and, later, Twenty. He documented his career in the 2015 autobiography Monster Maker: Keizo Murase and directed the 2024 film Brush of the God.
