Biography
Krista Vernoff is an American television screenwriter, executive producer and director. She studied acting at Boston University College of Fine Arts, graduating with a BFA in 1993, before moving into writing.
Her early credits include the teleplay and story for the Law & Order episode 'Sundown' (1999). She later worked as a writer and producer on Charmed and Wonderfalls. Vernoff joined Grey's Anatomy in 2005 as a writer and producer, serving as showrunner from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2017 to 2023; she has also been showrunner on its spin-off Station 19 and written episodes of Shameless and Private Practice.
Vernoff received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Grey's Anatomy, including one for outstanding writing for a drama series for the episode 'Into You Like a Train' (2006).
