Biography

Laura Innes is an American actress and television director. Born on 16 August 1957 in Pontiac, Michigan, she studied theatre at Northwestern University. She began her career in stage productions in Chicago and New York before appearing in films and guest television roles.

Innes is best known for playing Dr Kerry Weaver in the NBC medical drama ER (1995–2009), a role that earned her two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for acting. She also directed 12 episodes of the series. In 2001 she received a third Emmy nomination for directing the episode 'Shibboleth' of The West Wing (1999).

She has directed episodes of series including House (2004), Grey's Anatomy (2005) and How to Get Away with Murder (2014). Her film acting credits include Deep Impact (1998).
