Biography
Mark Helfrich is an American film editor and director. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, he began his career as an assistant editor at New World Pictures. His first credit as editor was on Revenge of the Ninja (1983).
Helfrich has edited more than thirty films. He has frequently collaborated with director Brett Ratner, serving as primary editor on titles including Money Talks (1997), Rush Hour (1998), Rush Hour 2 (2001), Red Dragon (2002), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), Rush Hour 3 (2007), Tower Heist (2011) and Hercules (2014). Other notable editing credits include Predator (1987), Scary Movie (2000), Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) and Red One (2024). He directed the film Good Luck Chuck (2007).
Helfrich is an elected member of the American Cinema Editors and serves on its board as an associate director. He is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
