Biography

Melissa Toth is a costume designer whose feature credits include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Synecdoche, New York (2008), Adventureland (2009), Manchester by the Sea (2016), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) and tick, tick... BOOM! (2021). She has also designed for the limited series Fosse/Verdon (2019) and The Crowded Room (2023).

Toth began in theatre after college, working with the Actor Shakespeare Company in Albany, New York, before moving to New York City. Her first feature as costume designer was Welcome to the Dollhouse (1995). She has collaborated repeatedly with directors Kenneth Lonergan and Charlie Kaufman.

She received Emmy nominations for outstanding period costumes for Fosse/Verdon and for contemporary costumes for Dying for Sex (2025).
