Biography
Nicholas Farrell is an English stage, film and television actor. Born Nicholas Charles Frost in Brentwood, Essex, in 1955, he trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
His early screen work includes the role of Aubrey Montague in Chariots of Fire (1981). He played Horatio in Kenneth Branagh's film Hamlet (1996), having previously performed the role with Branagh for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other film appearances include Twelfth Night (1996), Othello (1995) and In the Bleak Midwinter (1995). He provided the voice of Hamlet for the animated series Shakespeare: The Animated Tales (1992).
Farrell has appeared in numerous television productions and maintains an active theatre career, with credits including Royal Shakespeare Company productions of The Merchant of Venice, Julius Caesar and Hamlet. He is married to actress Stella Gonet.
