Biography
Nicole Holofcener is an American film and television director and screenwriter. Born on 22 March 1960 in New York City, she studied film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and at Columbia University.
She made her feature directorial debut with Walking and Talking (1996) and went on to direct Lovely & Amazing (2001), Friends with Money (2006), Please Give (2010) and Enough Said (2013). She co-wrote the screenplay for Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018), earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, a BAFTA nomination and the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Holofcener has directed episodes of series including Sex and the City (1998), Six Feet Under (2001), Gilmore Girls (2000), Parks and Recreation (2009) and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015). Her stepfather was producer Charles H. Joffe.
