Biography
Alan Taylor is an American television and film director. He has directed episodes of numerous series including The Sopranos (1999), The West Wing (1999), Six Feet Under (2001), Deadwood (2004), Mad Men (2007), Lost (2004), Rome (2005), Boardwalk Empire (2010) and Game of Thrones (2011).
Taylor directed the feature films Palookaville (1995), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Terminator Genisys (2015) and The Many Saints of Newark (2021). In 2007 he won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the The Sopranos episode 'Kennedy and Heidi'. He received further Emmy nominations in the same category for the Mad Men pilot 'Smoke Gets in Your Eyes' (2008) and the Game of Thrones episode 'Beyond the Wall' (2018).
