Biography
Phyllis Dalton was a British costume designer. She received an Academy Award for her work on Doctor Zhivago (1965) and a second for Henry V (1989). She also designed the costumes for Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Oliver! (1968), The Princess Bride (1987) and Much Ado About Nothing (1993).
Dalton was born in London in 1925 and died in Somerset in 2025. She was appointed MBE in 2002 for services to the film industry. Her other credits include The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) and three films directed by Kenneth Branagh. She won a BAFTA Award for The Hireling (1973) and a Primetime Emmy for The Scarlet Pimpernel (1983).
