Biography
Polly Platt was an American film producer, production designer and screenwriter. Born Mary Marr Platt on 29 January 1939 in Fort Sheridan, Illinois, she studied art at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and began her career in costume design for the stage before moving into film. She died on 27 July 2011 in Brooklyn, New York.
Platt served as production designer on The Last Picture Show (1971), What's Up, Doc? (1972), Paper Moon (1973), Terms of Endearment (1983, for which she received an Academy Award nomination) and The Witches of Eastwick (1987). She produced Bottle Rocket (1996) and other films including Broadcast News (1987). She was the first woman accepted into the Art Directors Guild.
