Biography

Richard Price (born 12 October 1949) is an American novelist and screenwriter from New York City. He is the author of novels including The Wanderers (1974), Clockers (1992) and Lush Life (2008), which explore urban life in a realistic style.

Price has written screenplays for films such as The Color of Money (1986), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, Sea of Love (1989), Ransom (1996), Shaft (2000) and Child 44 (2015). He contributed episodes to the television series The Wire (2002–2008) and has worked on The Night Of (2016), The Deuce (2017) and The Outsider (2020). He created the series NYC 22 (2012).
