Biography
Dennis Lehane is an American novelist and screenwriter. Born on 4 August 1965 in Dorchester, Boston, Massachusetts, he is a graduate of Florida International University.
Lehane is best known for his crime novels, several of which have been adapted into films, including Mystic River (2003), Gone Baby Gone (2007) and Shutter Island (2010). He has also written for television series including The Wire (2002), Boardwalk Empire (2010) and Mr. Mercedes (2017).
Lehane created and wrote the Apple TV+ series Black Bird (2022) and Smoke (2025), on which he is credited as writer and for teleplays.
