Biography
Robert Parrish (1916–1995) was an American film editor, director and actor. He began his career as a child actor in the late 1920s and early 1930s, appearing in films including City Lights (1931) and All Quiet on the Western Front (1930). He later worked as an assistant editor and sound editor for John Ford before serving in the US Navy during the Second World War on documentary films.
Parrish won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for Body and Soul (1947), shared with Francis Lyon, and received a further nomination for All the King's Men (1949). He made his directorial debut with Cry Danger (1951) and went on to direct features including The Purple Plain (1954), The Wonderful Country (1959) and Casino Royale (1967). He also directed three episodes of the television series The Twilight Zone (1959).
