Biography
Samuel Armstrong, also credited as Sam Armstrong, was an American animation director and background artist. He joined Walt Disney Studios in 1934, initially in the publicity department before moving to backgrounds, where he contributed to several Silly Symphonies shorts and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).
He directed segments of Fantasia (1940), including 'Toccata and Fugue in D Minor' and 'The Nutcracker Suite', and served as sequence director on Dumbo (1941) and Bambi (1942). Armstrong left Disney in 1941. He later worked as a layout artist at Warner Bros. on Looney Tunes shorts in the late 1950s.
