Biography

Terence Stamp was an English actor. He trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London and made his film debut in the title role of Billy Budd (1962), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Stamp appeared in Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980) as General Zod, in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) as Bernadette Bassinger, and as Wilson in The Limey (1999). Later roles included Chancellor Valorum in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) and appearances in Valkyrie (2008) and Last Night in Soho (2021). He died on 17 August 2025.
