Biography
Tom Conway (born Thomas Charles Sanders) was a British film, television and radio actor. He was born on 15 September 1904 in St Petersburg, Russia, and moved with his family to England at the outbreak of the Russian Revolution. He was educated in England and appeared in plays with the Manchester Repertory Company before performing on BBC Radio.
Conway is remembered for playing the detective The Falcon in ten films of the 1940s series, taking over the role from his younger brother George Sanders in The Falcon's Brother (1942). He appeared in several films produced by Val Lewton, including Cat People (1942), I Walked with a Zombie (1943) and The Seventh Victim (1943). He also provided the voice of the narrator in Peter Pan (1953) and voiced the Quizmaster and a Collie in One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961).
His other credits include supporting roles in Mrs. Miniver (1942), Waterloo Bridge (1940) and episodes of Perry Mason and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. He worked in Hollywood from the early 1940s until the mid-1960s.
