Tony Revolori's quick, precise delivery makes him a good fit for Wes Anderson's carefully arranged comedies. We rate the work, with a reservation about the writing when it insists on telling us how much to care.

As the young lobby boy Zero in The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Tony Revolori delivers complicated dialogue with the precision Wes Anderson's scenes demand. He gets the words out quickly, and the timing gives him a place in the comedy alongside Ralph Fiennes's vain, fussy Gustave. There is skill in keeping pace with such an elaborate film without labouring each joke. It is a substantial contribution to a film we like a great deal, despite its occasionally insistent sentiment.
The reservation is in the writing of that friendship. We were moved by Gustave's concern for other people when it emerged amid the comedy, but felt less when the screenplay insisted on underlining his affection for Zero. Those passages ask the bond to carry more feeling than the scenes quite earn, and the story seems to pause until we have acknowledged it. That does not make Revolori the problem; Anderson gives the actors too little room to let the affection go unannounced.
After that breakthrough, Dope (2015) gave him the supporting role of Jib, before Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) introduced his Flash Thompson. This Flash is a wealthy, technology-obsessed school bully, a change from the familiar sporting type that gives Revolori a different kind of unpleasantness to play. The role continued through Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). Our qualified affection for the latter rests chiefly on Tom Holland and Jon Watts's handling of the people. That crowded reunion is worth an evening for the already acquainted, but it is hardly our first recommendation for someone curious about Revolori.
Anderson brought him back for The French Dispatch (2021) and Asteroid City (2023), the latter casting him as the Aide-de-Camp. The repeat casting makes sense for a director who needs such exact delivery from his ensembles. We would welcome another substantial part that gave Revolori's preparation and verbal precision more to do. Start with The Grand Budapest Hotel, where there is enough time to see what he contributes.

Tony Revolori is an American actor. Born Anthony Quiñonez on 28 April 1996 in Anaheim, California, he is the younger brother of actor Mario Revolori. He began acting as a child and adopted his paternal grandmother's surname as his professional name.
Revolori is known for playing Zero Moustafa in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), and for reprising the role in The French Dispatch (2021) and Asteroid City (2023). He portrayed Flash Thompson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). Other credits include Scream VI (2023) and the television series Willow (2022–2023).
