Biography
Volker Bertelmann (born 11 October 1966) is a German composer and pianist who performs and records under the name Hauschka. He is known for compositions using prepared piano.
Bertelmann has scored numerous films and television series. His credits include Lion (2016), Adrift (2018), The Old Guard (2020), All Quiet on the Western Front (2022), Conclave (2024), One Life (2023) and A House of Dynamite (2025). He also composed music for the series Black Mirror (2011). For All Quiet on the Western Front he won the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Original Score, and he received an Academy Award nomination for Conclave.
He has collaborated on multiple projects with director Edward Berger.
