Biography
Albert Hackett was an American dramatist and screenwriter. He collaborated extensively with his wife Frances Goodrich on stage plays and film screenplays.
Their screenwriting credits include The Thin Man (1934) and its sequels After the Thin Man (1936) and Another Thin Man (1939), It's a Wonderful Life (1946), Easter Parade (1948), Father of the Bride (1950), and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954). They adapted their own Broadway play The Diary of Anne Frank for the 1959 film.
Hackett and Goodrich received Academy Award nominations for screenplays including The Thin Man, After the Thin Man, Father of the Bride and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. They won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, a Tony Award and a New York Drama Critics' Circle award for The Diary of Anne Frank.
