Biography
Frances Goodrich was an American screenwriter and playwright. She collaborated extensively with her husband Albert Hackett on screenplays including The Thin Man (1934), It's a Wonderful Life (1946), Easter Parade (1948), Father of the Bride (1950) and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954).
Goodrich was born in Belleville, New Jersey, and graduated from Vassar College in 1912. She began her career as an actress before turning to writing. She and Hackett, whom she married in 1931, received Academy Award nominations for screenplays including The Thin Man, After the Thin Man (1936), Father of the Bride and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. They won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for their play The Diary of Anne Frank (1955), which they later adapted for the screen (1959).
