Biography
Brooks Benedict (born Harold J. Mann, 6 February 1896 – 1 January 1968) was an American actor. He appeared in supporting and utility roles in over 300 films between 1923 and 1958, the great majority uncredited.
He made his screen debut in Cupid's Fireman (1923) and gained an early credited part opposite Harold Lloyd in The Freshman (1925). Benedict continued in both silent and sound films, with uncredited appearances including a Son of the Desert in Sons of the Desert (1933), a military officer in It's a Wonderful Life (1946), the tennis umpire in Strangers on a Train (1951), and a party guest in The Letter (1940) and Now, Voyager (1942).
