Biography
Charles H. Joffe (also credited as Charles Joffe) was an American film producer and comedy talent manager. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he studied journalism at Syracuse University and began his career booking bands before working as a junior agent at Music Corporation of America. In 1953 he and Jack Rollins left MCA to form their own talent agency in Manhattan.
Joffe is best known for his long partnership with Rollins as producer or executive producer on most of Woody Allen’s films from 1969 to 1993. He took the producer credit on Annie Hall (1977), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and on Manhattan (1979). Their production banner appeared on Allen’s films through the early 1990s, after which Joffe continued as co-executive producer on later works including Match Point (2005) and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008). He died in Los Angeles in 2008.
