Biography
Clark Gregg is an American actor, director and screenwriter. He was born Robert Clark Gregg Jr. on 2 April 1962 in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied drama and English at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, graduating in 1986, and was a founding member of the off-Broadway Atlantic Theater Company.
Gregg is best known for portraying Agent Phil Coulson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), The Avengers (2012), Captain Marvel (2019) and the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013–2020). He also played Supernerd in A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), Dr. Walters in The Usual Suspects (1995) and Vance in (500) Days of Summer (2009).
He wrote the screenplay for What Lies Beneath (2000) and wrote and directed Choke (2008) and Trust Me (2013). Other film roles include appearances in The West Wing (2001–2004) and The New Adventures of Old Christine (2006–2010).
