Biography
David Russell Boyd, also credited as David R. Boyd, is an American cinematographer and director of television and film. He has worked as director of photography on series including Firefly, the first three episodes of Deadwood, and Without a Trace. On Friday Night Lights he served as director of photography for much of the first season and later directed episodes.
Boyd has directed episodes of The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time, Constantine, Sleepy Hollow, 12 Monkeys, Queen of the South, The Mist, Revolution, Away and other series. His feature directorial debut was the 2013 film Home Run, on which he also worked as cinematographer. In 2025 he directed two episodes of the series Daredevil: Born Again.
