Biography
Gareth Neame is a British television and film producer. He has been managing director and co-executive chair of Carnival Films since 2004, having sold the company to NBCUniversal in 2008.
Born on 8 March 1967, Neame is the grandson of cinematographer, screenwriter, producer and director Ronald Neame and great-grandson of pioneer filmmaker Elwin Neame. He read English and drama at the University of Birmingham and began his career at the BBC, where he worked as a drama commissioner on series including Spooks and State of Play.
Neame was executive producer on the series Downton Abbey (2010–2015) and producer on the feature films Downton Abbey (2019), Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022) and Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (2025). His other credits include executive producer on The Last Kingdom (2015–2022), Rome (2005) and The Day of the Jackal (2024). He was appointed OBE in 2016 for services to drama.
