Biography
Gene Havlick (born Eugene Charles Havlick, 16 March 1894 – 11 May 1959) was an American film editor. He worked primarily at Columbia Pictures from 1929 to 1957, after a brief period at Universal, and edited more than 100 films over a 30-year career.
His credits include It Happened One Night (1934), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Lost Horizon (1937), You Can't Take It with You (1938), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) and His Girl Friday (1940). Havlick received three Academy Award nominations for Best Film Editing, winning one for Lost Horizon (shared with Gene Milford).
