Biography

Gyula Pados is a Hungarian cinematographer. Born in Budapest on 2 April 1969, he trained at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest, enrolling in 1990. His early career included work in Hungary and England before he gained international recognition for films such as Kontroll (2003) and Fateless (2005), the latter earning him a Camerimage Golden Frog award.

Pados has worked extensively in Hollywood. He is known for his collaborations with director Wes Ball on Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018) and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024). Other credits include Predators (2010), The Duchess (2008), the Jumanji films of 2017 and 2019, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023). He also photographed the pilot episode of the television series Scorpion (2014). In 2025 he was welcomed as a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
